Thoughts About Teaching

Teachers are learners.  Yes, it might surprise you that a teacher is a learner too.  Out of my own experience in the field, I see myself learning on daily bases.  Although I have been a teacher for 10 years and a teacher plus a university student for around 8 years, I don't see myself being able to apply what I learn as much as I do when I am in the class with the students themselves.  Honestly, I have learned a lot of new vocabulary words each time I prepared for a new lesson while teaching a new grade.  In addition, I have created plenty of strategies and techniques regarding classroom management and grabbing the students' attention.  I have learned that I might come up with ten different activities for a certain lesson just because I have students with different abilities and different learning styles.  Sometimes , I had to postpone a lesson or an activity because a group of my students had problems at recess that were not solved.  I have learned to be patient more than I am able to be.  I have understood that each individual in my class is special and unique the way he/ she is regardless their educational behavior level.  I have learned to think of what would the students answer before asking them any question.  I learned to be always ready, really ready, before any class because students might surprise me at any time with any question you might not be aware of.  Plan "B" is my saver, and changing a lesson plan I spent the whole night preparing, on the spot, has been less challenging.  Acting silly and crazy became a part of my personality in classes too.  As a conclusion, teaching will teach you, change you and transform you to become a better productive person in the society.  Teaching, when loved and appreciated, is a holy job only few can recognize its marvelous outcome on the future generations.     Ending up with a quote I really admit: "Nothing would mean anything if I didn't live a life of use to others." - Angelina Julie.
